Shirley Temple Dust Jacket
We all have books that mean something to us, and with enough love and time, their dust jackets naturally wear down. That’s what happened to my mom’s favorite book, Shirley Temple and the Spirit of Dragonwood. When its original dust jacket finally fell apart, I decided not just to replace it, but to breathe new life by redesigning the cover in a way that honored the original while creating something fresh for my mom to love.

The Second Body by Daisy Hildyard explores this idea through the concept of two bodies: the physical one we live in and a “second body” that reflects our global ecological impact. For this class assignment, I designed a 28‑page booklet that combines insights from the reading with my own experiences.

With the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History’s 2024 report, I embraced that challenge and found a visual system that brought clarity, energy, and cohesion to the content.

This children’s picture book follows her journey through stage fright and shows how family and friends can help when worries feel too big to face alone.
