Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History Annual Report

Publication Design

InDesign| Illustrator| Photoshop

This project was created for my Publication Design class, where we were tasked with designing a 20‑page book that transforms raw financial data into a compelling narrative for the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. As the designer, I worked within the Smithsonian’s brand guidelines to ensure every visual decision aligned with their identity and values. The museum provided a wide selection of photos and typefaces, which I incorporated throughout the report.

Using Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, I placed all required text and imagery before experimenting with expressive visual elements. In Illustrator, I created custom brush strokes and clipped images over them to introduce dynamic, energetic compositions that brought the annual report to life. I also learned how to build clean, accurate graphs in Illustrator.
